MT5 Setup & Installation
Common installation questions for MT5 desktop, permissions, and platform settings.
Do I need MT5 Desktop to use Lanami?+–
Yes. MT5 Desktop is required to install and run both the indicator and the EA.
Can I install Lanami on MT5 Mobile?+–
No. MT5 Mobile cannot run indicators/EAs like desktop. Mobile is mainly for monitoring and push notifications.
Where do I install the files in MT5?+–
Use MT5 Desktop → File → Open Data Folder, then place files in the correct MQL5 subfolders (Indicators or Experts) as instructed in the installation guides.
Why can’t I see the indicator in the Navigator list?+–
Usually MT5 needs a restart, or the file is in the wrong folder. Confirm it’s inside MQL5/Indicators and restart MT5. For more info go to the installation guides.
Why can’t I attach the EA to a chart?+–
Check that it’s in MQL5/Experts, then restart MT5. Also confirm the account allows algorithmic trading. For more inforamtion please visit the usage guide.
What does “AutoTrading disabled” mean?+–
It means MT5 is preventing EAs from trading. Enable AutoTrading/Algo Trading in MT5 and allow trading in EA settings.
The EA is on the chart but not trading, why?+–
Common causes: AutoTrading off, “Allow Algo Trading” unchecked, wrong symbol/timeframe, market closed, or broker restrictions. For more information, please visit our usage guide.
How do I know MT5 is connected to my broker?+–
Check the MT5 connection status in the bottom-right corner. If there’s no data/ticks, indicators and EAs may not function.
Do I need to enable DLL imports?+–
Only enable what your product instructions require. If a feature needs it, it will be stated in your installation guide.
What is the difference between MT5 and MT4?+–
Lanami is built for MT5. MT4 indicators/EAs are not automatically compatible.
Can I use Lanami on a Mac?+–
MT5 Desktop is required. Some users run MT5 via Windows, a VPS, or compatible virtualization. Your results depend on your setup.
Should I use a VPS for MT5?+–
If you run the MT5 EA or want 24/7 monitoring, a VPS is recommended. For manual indicator alerts, it’s optional.
MT5 is slow or freezing, what should I do?+–
Reduce charts running, remove heavy indicators, check internet stability, and consider running MT5 on a stronger machine/VPS.
How do I update the indicator/EA?+–
Replace the old file in the correct folder and restart MT5, or follow the update steps provided in the installation guide.
Lanami Breakout Indicator
Manual confirmation, alerts, and indicator behavior.
Does the indicator place trades automatically?+–
No. The indicator only provides alerts, trade execution is manual.
Does the indicator repaint?+–
Signals are generated after candle close. With close-based confirmation, it should not repaint. Visit the indicator page for more information.
What markets can I use the indicator on?+–
What timeframes does the indicator support?+–
The strategy framework is designed for timeframes from M5 to H12.
Can I use the indicator on multiple charts at once?+–
Yes, but it depends on your license terms and your computer performance. Visit the indicator page for more information.
Why am I getting too many alerts?+–
Check the timeframe and settings. Lower timeframes generate more signals and more noise. Visit the indicator-usage page for more information
Why am I getting no alerts?+–
Confirm the indicator is attached properly, MT5 is connected and receiving ticks, and alert settings are enabled.
Can I filter signals for only XAUUSD?+–
Yes. Apply the indicator to XAUUSD charts only (or configure symbol filtering if your settings support it).
Does the indicator work with hedging accounts?+–
Usually yes, but account type and broker rules vary. The indicator itself does not place trades.
Can I use it with a prop firm account?+–
That depends on the prop firm rules. Lanami tools don’t bypass restrictions, you must follow firm policies. Visit the disclaimer for more information.
Why does the signal appear only after candle close?+–
Because the strategy uses close-based confirmation, which helps reduce false signals. For more information, go to the breakout strategy page.
Will the indicator work if my MT5 is closed?+–
No. MT5 must be running to generate alerts. Use a VPS if you need always-on monitoring.
Lanami Expert Advisor (EA)
Automated execution, requirements, and safety.
Does the EA trade automatically?+–
Yes. The EA can place trades automatically when configured and when conditions are met.
Does the EA run on MT5 Mobile?+–
No. EAs run on MT5 Desktop only.
Does the EA need MT5 to stay open?+–
Yes. If MT5 closes, the EA cannot trade.
Should I run the EA on a VPS?+–
Yes, if you want stable continuous operation. A VPS reduces downtime risk. Visit the EA page for more information.
Can the EA trade BTCUSD?+–
Yes, but crypto volatility and slippage require conservative risk settings. Visit BTCUSD for more information.
Why did the EA miss a trade?+–
Execution depends on real-time data, spreads, slippage, and whether MT5 was running with permissions enabled. Visit the guide for more information.
Can I limit the EA to specific sessions or hours?+–
If session filters exist in your EA settings, yes. Otherwise you control trading by when you enable or disable it.
Can I set risk per trade in the EA?+–
If supported by the EA settings, yes. Confirm how risk is calculated in guides before trading live.
Does the EA guarantee profits?+–
No. Trading involves risk and losses are possible. Automation does not remove risk. Visit the diclaimer for more information.
Why does the EA open trades at different prices than expected?+–
Slippage and spread changes can affect fill prices, especially during fast markets.
Can the EA manage stop loss and take profit automatically?+–
If enabled in your settings, yes. Confirm how exits are handled in guides.
Can I run multiple EAs on one account?+–
You can, but it increases complexity and risk. Ensure strategies don’t conflict and keep total exposure controlled.
What happens during news events?+–
Spreads can widen and slippage increases. Many automated traders reduce exposure or avoid high-impact news.
Alerts & Notifications
Telegram group alerts, MT5 mobile push alerts, and troubleshooting.
What alert methods does the indicator support?+–
MT5 Desktop on-chart/terminal alerts, MT5 Mobile push notifications (from your MT5 terminal), and Telegram group alerts that are published by Lanami’s hosted MT5 indicator. You do not install a Telegram bot.
How do I enable MT5 mobile push notifications?+–
In MT5 Desktop, enable Notifications and connect it to your MT5 Mobile (MetaQuotes ID). Then run a test notification to confirm delivery. Your terminal must be running for push alerts to send.
Why am I not receiving push notifications?+–
Check your MetaQuotes ID, MT5 Desktop → Tools → Options → Notifications, and your phone’s notification permissions. Also confirm MT5 Desktop is running and connected (no connection = no push).
Do Telegram alerts work if MT5 is closed?+–
Yes, Telegram group alerts are sent by Lanami’s hosted MT5 indicator, so they are independent of your MT5 being open. However, MT5 Mobile push notifications require your own MT5 Desktop terminal to be running.
Why are Telegram alerts delayed?+–
Most alerts are close-confirmed (sent after candle close). Small delays can also happen due to Telegram delivery timing or brief connectivity issues. If delays are frequent, compare the Telegram timestamp vs the candle close time.
Can I get alerts for multiple symbols in Telegram?+–
Yes, the Lanami Telegram group can publish alerts across multiple symbols/timeframes as configured on the hosted system. Your personal MT5 push alerts, however, depend on what you run locally.
Are Telegram alerts “signals”?+–
Telegram alerts show that the strategy conditions were detected. They are informational and not a guarantee of profit. Always apply your own risk rules and read the disclaimer.
Can I disable alerts and only keep chart signals?+–
Yes. If you’re running the indicator locally, you can disable popup/push/sound alerts and keep only on-chart visuals (depending on your indicator settings). Telegram group alerts are separate because they are hosted by Lanami.
Why do I get repeated alerts for the same setup?+–
Repeated alerts can happen if multiple timeframes/symbols trigger similar conditions, or if your local MT5 is set to alert more than once per candle. Prefer “on candle close” alerting where possible.
Can I receive alerts on iPhone and Android?+–
Yes. Telegram works on both iPhone and Android, and MT5 Mobile push notifications also work on both (once your MetaQuotes ID is connected and MT5 Desktop is running).
Do I need a separate Telegram account for alerts?+–
No. You can join the Lanami Telegram group using your existing Telegram account.
Can I whitelist Telegram notifications for priority delivery?+–
Yes. Use your phone’s notification settings for Telegram to allow priority alerts, sound/vibration, and disable battery optimization if it suppresses notifications.
Licensing & Billing
License access, renewals, pricing, and payment questions.
Do I need a license to use the indicator or EA?+–
Yes. Both the indicator and EA are controlled via a license.
Are licenses monthly or yearly?+–
Both monthly and yearly options can be offered, see pricing.
Do different license tiers change strategy logic?+–
No. Strategy logic should remain the same, pricing is for access and updates.
Where do I see pricing?+–
On pricing.
How do I pay?+–
Payment is handled through your checkout flow (Stripe) as configured on your site.
When does my license renew?+–
Renewal depends on the plan you purchase (monthly/yearly). Your billing provider will show the renewal schedule.
What happens if my license expires?+–
Access to the product features will stop until the license is renewed.
Can I cancel my subscription?+–
Subscription cancellation depends on your billing policy. Provide clear cancellation details on pricing/terms.
Do you offer refunds?+–
This depends on your official refund policy.
Can I switch from monthly to yearly?+–
Usually yes, depending on your billing setup. Provided instructions on pricing.
Can I use one license on multiple accounts?+–
No you can only use your license on one account at a time.
The checkout didn’t complete but I was charged, what do I do?+–
Contact support with transaction details. Payment issues should be handled carefully and promptly.
Can I pay with crypto?+–
Only if your checkout explicitly supports it. Otherwise payment is via standard methods supported by your provider.
Markets & Symbols
Symbol selection, volatility, spreads, and trading conditions.
Is this strategy designed for XAUUSD?+–
Yes. XAUUSD is a common use case. Execution and risk control are important due to volatility.
Is this strategy designed for BTCUSD?+–
It can be applied to BTCUSD, but crypto volatility and slippage require conservative risk settings.
Is this strategy designed for XAGUSD?+–
Yes, but silver may have different liquidity/spread characteristics, so be realistic with targets.
Why do spreads matter for breakout trading?+–
Wider spreads increase entry cost and can cause earlier stop-outs, especially on lower timeframes.
Why does gold spike and reverse so often?+–
Gold often reacts strongly to liquidity shifts and macro news. Confirmation helps reduce false entries.
Why does Bitcoin behave differently on weekends?+–
Liquidity and volatility profiles can change. Slippage can increase in certain conditions. Visit BTCUSD for more information.
Can I use this on forex pairs like EURUSD?+–
The framework can be applied broadly. Test and use conservative risk until you understand behavior.
What is the best timeframe for XAUUSD?+–
The framework supports M5 to H12. Lower timeframes mean more signals/noise; higher timeframes are often cleaner. Visit XAUUSD for more information.
What is the best timeframe for BTCUSD?+–
Often higher timeframes reduce noise, but the framework supports M5 to H12. Risk control matters most.
Why do I see different prices for XAUUSD across brokers?+–
Brokers can have different feeds, spreads, and symbol specifications.
What if my broker’s symbol names differ (e.g., XAUUSDm)?+–
That’s normal. Use your broker’s symbol naming and ensure the indicator/EA is attached to the correct chart.
Can I trade gold during major news?+–
You can, but risk increases due to spread expansion and slippage. Conservative traders often reduce exposure or avoid it.
Does the EA handle slippage automatically?+–
Some EAs include slippage settings. Even with settings, slippage can still occur during fast markets.
What is “point value” and why does it matter?+–
It affects position sizing and risk calculations. Always confirm symbol contract specs with your broker.
Why is silver sometimes “choppy”?+–
Liquidity and participation can vary, which impacts follow-through after breakouts. Visit XAGUSD for more information.
Strategy & Signals
Questions about the SMA10 breakout confirmation sequence and how signals are formed.
What moving average does Lanami use?+–
A 10-period Simple Moving Average (SMA10) as a trend filter. More info
What defines a bullish breakthrough candle?+–
Open below SMA10 and close above SMA10, with a bullish candle (close above open). More info
What defines the rejection candle for buys?+–
A bearish candle (close below open) that still closes above SMA10. More info
When is the buy entered?+–
On the next candle after the rejection candle.
Is the sell logic the exact opposite?+–
Yes. The sell sequence mirrors the buy rules in the opposite direction. More info
Do wicks matter for confirmation?+–
The rules use candle close relative to SMA10 for acceptance, not wick touches. More info
Why wait for multiple candles instead of entering immediately?+–
Waiting for confirmation reduces false breakouts and avoids chasing impulse moves. More info
Does the strategy work in ranging markets?+–
Ranging conditions often cause repeated SMA crosses and weaker follow-through. Many traders avoid trading those conditions. More info
Can I take every signal?+–
You can, but many traders apply risk/session filters. Risk management is essential either way. More Info
Why do signals differ between timeframes?+–
Candle structure changes by timeframe. The same rules produce different frequency and noise profiles. More info
Do you provide guaranteed win rates?+–
No. Trading outcomes vary. Focus on consistent execution and controlled risk. For more info, visit disclaimer.
Is this financial advice?+–
No. It’s educational information only. Always trade responsibly and read disclaimer.
Risk & Safety
Conservative guidance for position sizing, drawdown control, and trading responsibly.
How much should I risk per trade?+–
Many conservative traders use 0.25%–1% per trade. The right amount depends on experience and volatility. More info
Why is risk management more important than entries?+–
Without controlled risk, a normal losing streak can wipe out an account even with a good strategy.
What is a daily loss limit?+–
A rule that stops trading after a predefined loss threshold to prevent emotional spirals and revenge trading. More info
Why do people blow accounts with automated trading?+–
Over-leverage, no loss limits, poor settings, and running automation through high-volatility events. More info
Should I trade during high-impact news?+–
It increases risk due to spread expansion and slippage. Many traders reduce exposure or avoid it.
Can a stop loss always protect me?+–
Stops reduce risk, but gaps/slippage can cause worse fills than expected, especially in fast markets.
Is a higher win rate always better?+–
Not necessarily. Performance depends on win rate, average win/loss size, and disciplined execution. More info
Can I recover quickly from a big drawdown?+–
Large drawdowns require much larger percentage gains to recover. Conservative risk helps avoid deep drawdowns.
Should beginners start with the indicator or EA?+–
Many start with the indicator to learn the strategy and market behavior before automating.
Where can I learn more about risk rules?+–
See risk-management.
